We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in controlling costs and supporting financial performance. In this position, you will be responsible for monitoring food, beverage, and operational costs, ensuring accurate inventory control, and supporting financial reporting in line with IHG standards.
A little taste of your day-to-day:Every day is different at IHG, but you’ll mostly be:
- Monitoring and controlling food & beverage costs in line with the budget and forecast.
- Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly inventory checks for food, beverage, and operating supplies.
- Verifying store issues, purchase orders, and goods received notes for accuracy.
- Reviewing recipes, portion control, and menu costing to ensure profitability.
- Preparing daily and monthly cost reports and variance analysis.
- Coordinating with Kitchen, Stewarding, Purchasing, and Receiving departments to ensure proper cost control procedures.
- Investigating discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
- Ensuring compliance with internal control procedures and IHG financial standards.
- Assisting in month-end closing activities related to cost and inventory.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate cost data.
- Monitoring waste, spoilage, and pilferage, and reporting irregularities.
- Maintaining accurate records of stock movements and cost documentation.
- Participating in audits and stock takes as required.
- Promoting teamwork and quality service through strong communication with all departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Cost Control or Cost Accounting, preferably in a hotel environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management and cost control systems.
- Good understanding of food & beverage operations.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with hotel systems (e.g., Opera, Micros, or similar) is an advantage.
- Good communication skills in English and Arabic.
