  7. Education: Bachelor’s degree/higher education, qualification/5 years equivalent in Security field or related experience.
  8. Service years in the field At least 5-year experience.
  • Knowledge and skills Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and software system.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions, and training. 
  • Ability to attend workshops, training course of InterContinental Hotels Group.
  • Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

What’s the job?

As Security Shift Supervisor, you’ll be accountable for the physical patrolling and reporting of general security, fire safety and fire equipment, occupational health and safety for his/her responsible shift team. To safeguard the welfare of the Hotel, its guests, visitors, customers, employees, contractors. Promotes the desired work culture around the core values of IHG.

Your-day-to-day

  • Support colleagues to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect.

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
  • Recommend or initiate any HR related actions where needed.
  • Become familiar with Purchase Plus program and assist with orders for Security and Recreation.
  • Prepares reports the the Security manager or Director and assists with all other duties assigned by management.
  • Cooperates, coordinates and communicates with Department Heads and other inter-departmental secretaries as appropriate.
  • Monitor the movement of employees and other persons throughout the hotel, paying special attention to food and beverage areas, storage areas and ensure all employees leave their own personal baggage in lockers, or those areas specified by the hotel management. Also to monitor the route taken by employees when commencing and concluding duty, ensuring they always use the nominated staff exit / entrance.
  • Be fully responsible for the shift of duty roster.
  • Monitor any installation of security, safety equipment and closely liaise and coordinate the servicing and maintenance of all such equipment with the Engineering Department or the appointed contractors.
  • Record and report all acts of willful neglect of duty by staff, improper behavior, inebriated or drug affected staff, hazardous, dangerous work practices, unhealthy or unclean operation or any other matters which necessary to report in the interests of, or the efficient operation of the site
  • Gather and collate intelligence and necessary information concerning the security and safety of the hotel, its guests, visitors, employees and contractors.
  • Properly provide supportive guard escorts for cashiers to the bank and when necessary or at the request of the hotel management for the security and safety purposes to provide a personal safety escort for guests, visitors, employees.
  • Help create the department’s annual budget and the setting of departmental goals.
  • Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on equipment and labor costs….
  • Ensure all outlets, fridges, cupboards etc. are fully secured when not in use or unattended.
  • Responsible Business 
  • Regularly inspect all fire hose reel, fire fighting equipment, fire stairs.  To record and report any defects or obstructions detected
  • Record and report all maintenance defects which are detected during patrolling, particularly those relating to security and safety functions. e.g. faulty doors, locks, alarms, windows, plants, lifts and similar equipment.
  • Thoroughly be conversant with all the fire and emergency procedures of the hotel and when such an emergency does occur quickly assist staff, the police, fire brigade and other essential services in the implementation of those procedures.
  • Monitor the entry of all guests, visitors, contractors, suppliers and staff, recording all vehicle numbers together with entry and exit times and dates, to search all hotel vehicles, supplier vehicles and any other vehicles leaving the hotel.  To ensure the security and correct parking of all guests, visitors and hotel vehicles. To standby and check the rubbish being discarded into garbage vehicles to prevent any goods, hotel properties being unlawfully removed from the hotel.
  • Carefully monitor any installation of security, safety equipment and closely liaise and coordinate the servicing and maintenance of all such equipment with the Engineering Department or the appointed contractors.
  • When necessary, investigate any occurrence or event associated with the security, safety and welfare of the hotel, its guests, visitors, employees, contractors and prepare full detail of 'confidential incident report from' for the information of the General Manager and /or Chief Security.
  • Provide whatever physical support which maybe necessary to ensure the security, safety and harmony of the hotel, its guests, visitors, contractors, customers and employees.
  • Be responsible in keeping the property safe and secure, to participate in any resort activity related to Fire Life safety.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments which may be assigned by management when we have to pull together to get a task done.
  • Deliver Crowne Plaza Brand Promise and Service Signatures to daily work.
  • Patrol the internal perimeter of the hotel (and when instructed, the external perimeter), all walk ways, drive ways, garden areas, guest and staff motorbike and car parking lot, guest room floors, corridors, service area, fire stairs, function rooms, bars, Karaoke rooms, restaurants, kitchens, staff changing rooms, swimming pool and the Gym area, and any other public areas.  To ensure the security, safety and general welfare of each area and its occupants, together with the harmonious operation of such areas.  Such duties to include the collection and return to the reception all guest room keys and retrieve all operational keys left in doors, linen rooms, bars, restaurants, offices and other areas.  To faithfully record and report any occurrences / anomalies / incidents associated with the patrolling of such areas.
  • Observe and evaluate all persons and vehicles entering and leaving the hotel.  To deter the entry of local children, beggars, cycle drivers, street vendors and malefactors from entering the hotel premises.  To answer the questions of guests and visitors and when pottering and main entry door staff are busy with group check-in or big functions in-house, etc., assist by operating car doors for guest and visitors and protect guest baggage, luggage against theft, to control traffic (both pedestrian and vehicular) and assist with crowd control and vehicles.
  • Regularly monitor the rear and side fences of the hotel and also the windows and balconies of the guest rooms to ensure that unauthorized entry does not occur.
