Our new Chief Engineer will lead and coach a small but talented engineering team to stay one step ahead of our everyday maintenance needs.
 
A little taste of your day-to-day:
 
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task
Creating a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy
Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimising waste and meeting
our green initiatives
Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed
Building strong relationships with outside contacts including guests, regulatory agencies, others as needed
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and monitor the operation and adjust of HVAC equipment and systems, electrical equipment and systems and plumbing equipment and systems

  • Adjusts and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment, boilers, and ventilating and hot water heaters, pumps, valves, piping and filters and other mechanical and electrical equipment

  • Maintain, operate and repair HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair and related grounds as it pertains to facility

  • Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, and changing parts to maintain the HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels

  • Performs predictive, planned, preventative and routine maintenance equipment rounds and service requests as directed

  • Complete building rounds and log equipment

  • Respond immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure,) and customer concerns

  • Oversee and monitor the operation and adjust of refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC equipment and systems, electrical, and hot water systems

  • Handel multiple competing priority at the same instance

  • Operating, maintaining, and repairs of Civil MEP Facilities and equipment

  • Partakes in the preventative maintenance program for all HVAC-R and related controls and equipment

  • Study and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly while performing daily duties

  • Modifies and repairs building systems and equipment

  • Making and logging necessary adjustments

  • Maintain heating equipment, chillers (air and/ or water cooled), DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV, and air distribution systems, etc.

  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on all equipment throughout all campus facilities including Chiller/Central Plant

  • Performs a combination of complex maintenance and repair tasks involving more than one specific skill and general maintenance type work

  • Perform assigned facility inspections, oversee vendor work and due diligence efforts, reporting on conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations

  • Maintain compliance of State, County and City Ordinances, Codes and Laws where applicable

  • Ability to work any assigned schedule to include rotating shifts, overtime, weekends and holidays if needed
  • Participate in modification of tasks and duty scope and policy as needed

  • Comply with all Corporate Environmental Health & Safety policies & procedures
  • Partakes in the preventative maintenance program for all HVAC-R and related controls and equipment

  • Modifies and repairs building systems and equipment

  • Monitoring equipment to ensure proper temperature and pressure readings/settings 

  • Ensure preventive and scheduled maintenance Performs Monthly Inspection/Testing/Maintenance on all Fire and Sprinkler equipment

  • Maintains records on equipment repairs, safety inspections, and preventive maintenance

  • Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment and makes recommendations and improvement of safety

  • Monitor, adjust, introduce chemical dosing and operate chemical dispensing systems safely, including the proper use of PPM equipment

  • Supervision of personnel and coordinate the projects and equipment in managing complex systems maintenance and operation systems

  • Perform preventive maintenance duties, including changing filters, lubricating motors, etc. Inspecting and adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning shafts, and other inspections and maintenance recommended by equipment manufacturers

  • Performs regular site inspections, including Facility Walk Through and the collection of data and equipment readings as required

  • In accordance with approved schedules, performs maintenance of site facilities equipment as appropriate to knowledge, skills, and certifications/licenses in accordance with procedures and policies

  • Inspect, maintain, and document work done to life-safety equipment such as fire suppression

  • May assign tasks and request assistance from the Day Porter as needed

  • Monitor the site Utility plant systems and make adjustments and/or repairs as necessary

  • Communicates with supply for any contracted services or materials

  • Answers all departmental telephone calls and or work requests received and enters on work order system to ensure prompt response to inquiries or problems

  • Operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building equipment related to the efficient operation of the building equipment and systems

  • Responsibilities may include but is not limited to all types of building equipment, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls (electrical & pneumatic)

  • Maintains a logbook detailing the operation of and/or equipment for un-usual conditions and maintenance work performed

  • Alerts personnel regarding safety and hazards to ensure safe procedures and equipment

  • knowledge of detailed Boiler sequence of operations, Trouble shoot problems and initiate corrective actions to maintain boilers operational

  • Respond to emergency calls from management or the on-shift Manager/Security


What We need from you:

 
Some college or advanced vocational training 
Four years’ experience in general building maintenance and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience 
Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields
Level 3 EPA Certification, HVAC and refrigeration certificate, licensed plumber and/or journeyman status for electrician and carpenter may be required 
Hotel experience preferred 
Professional certification and licence if required by law
