Located at the prestigious address of One Queen Street, InterContinental Auckland is a landmark luxury hotel offering breathtaking waterfront views across Waitematā Harbour. We are now seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager to join our established leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day success of a high-performing, award-winning restaurant and bar, working closely with the Restaurant & Bar Manager to lead service, people and performance.

Explore your journey ahead

  • Work closely with the Restaurant & Bar Manager to support the smooth, consistent and successful operation of Advieh Restaurant & Bar.
  • Take a hands-on leadership role on the floor, ensuring exceptional service standards and memorable guest experiences.
  • Support the leadership and development of the Restaurant & Bar team through coaching, training and performance feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Head Mixologist and leadership team on beverage execution, menu knowledge and upselling initiatives.
  • Assist in managing guest feedback, resolving issues promptly and driving continuous improvement.
  • Support inventory management across food and beverage, including ordering, stock control and cost awareness.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Restaurant & Bar Manager, ensuring service continuity and operational excellence.

What we need from you 

Experience & Operational Knowledge

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a premium hotel or restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, including wine, beverages and service standards.
  • Experience supporting operational compliance, including health & safety and responsible service of alcohol.

Leadership & Guest Experience

  • A confident, hands-on leader who enjoys leading from the floor and developing teams.
  • Exceptional guest service skills, with strong attention to detail and a genuine passion for hospitality.
  • Ability to manage guest feedback professionally and drive continuous improvement.

Communication & Flexibility

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with guests and colleagues.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
