Position Summary
The Bellperson is responsible for providing warm, attentive, and personalized service to hotel guests from arrival through departure. This position creates a welcoming first and lasting impression by assisting with luggage, transportation, directions, and other guest requests while consistently delivering the high level of service expected at an InterContinental Hotel & Resort.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and acknowledge guests with a warm, professional, and genuine approach.
- Assist guests with luggage upon arrival, departure, and throughout their stay.
- Escort guests to their rooms and provide an overview of hotel facilities, services, and amenities.
- Explain room features and answer guest questions regarding the hotel and surrounding area.
- Assist with loading and unloading luggage from guest vehicles and transportation.
- Safely transport and store guest luggage in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Retrieve and deliver luggage, packages, messages, and other items to guest rooms as requested.
- Provide directions and recommendations for local attractions, restaurants, shopping, transportation, and entertainment.
- Assist guests with transportation arrangements, including taxis, rideshare services, and hotel vehicles when applicable.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of the lobby, bell stand, and luggage storage areas.
- Communicate guest requests and special needs promptly to the appropriate department.
- Assist with special events, group arrivals, VIP guests, and other hotel functions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of luggage storage, deliveries, and other assigned duties.
- Protect guest privacy and handle guest belongings with care and discretion.
- Follow all hotel, safety, security, and service standards.
- Anticipate guest needs and consistently look for opportunities to create memorable experiences.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- Deliver exceptional and personalized service consistent with InterContinental standards.
- Demonstrate genuine hospitality and a positive attitude in every guest interaction.
- Practice active listening and respond promptly to guest requests.
- Maintain professionalism, composure, and discretion in a luxury hotel environment.
- Support a culture of teamwork and collaboration across all hotel departments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous hotel, hospitality, guest service, or customer service experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a luxury or upscale hotel environment is a plus.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
- Knowledge of the local Atlanta area is preferred.
- Ability to handle guest luggage safely and professionally.
- Valid driver's license may be required depending on hotel responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull guest luggage and other items as required.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and maneuver luggage carts safely.
Schedule
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and during peak hotel occupancy periods.
