Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, InterContinental Hotel Brisbane has just opened to guests this winter, offering 319 spacious hotel rooms and suites, all day dining restaurant and lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and Club Lounge, all in a prime location above Queen Street Mall, perfect for exploring the city’s top attractions. With over 1800 square metres of meeting and events spaces, InterContinental Brisbane offers versatile function rooms and a Grand Ballroom catering for up to 1000 guests, making it a great choice for business and leisure events alike.

InterContinental Brisbane is seeking a dynamic and driven Business Development Executive to be part of this exciting team. You will develop new sales opportunities and manage assigned account base in order to generate revenue and maximise performance both for the short and long term in line with sales target with guidance and supervision.  

Your Day to Day

  • Manage assigned account base to meet targets for total revenue
  • Research marketplace to actively prospect and qualify potential new accounts
  • Develop relationship and maintain contact with key decision makers, influencers, meeting planners, event organisers, associations and other producers to produce group and/or convention business, room sales, food & beverage sales, and catering/banquet services   
  • Maintain client files and update information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.  Produce monthly sales-related reports and sales forecasts for assigned area of responsibility
  • Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines.  Accurately produce and/or review all sales contracts and rate agreements
  • Monitor and report on sales activity undertaken and measurement of results through maintaining of accurate records in the sales tools and action plans.
  • Planning and preparation for sales visit, trade fairs, educational or familiarisation groups to promote the hotel and develop potential business
  • Monitor competitor practices and accounts, monthly RGI scorecards and diagnostic tools in order to understand competitor trends
  • Provide administrative support to the team where required
  • Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients
  • Entertain clients in accordance with established company and hotel policies and guidelines

What We Need from You

  • At least a Diploma in Marketing, Hospitality Management or a related discipline
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Sales within hospitality industry
  • Experienced sales coordinators currently working in the industry are welcome to apply
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible work approach
  • Excellent Customer Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Results-Oriented & Highly Motivated
  • Great communication skills, both written and spoken in English
  • Independent and able to make good decision
  • Proven ability to plan & execute events effectively with a strong attention to details
