Duties and Responsibilities 
As Director of Landscaping, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Landscaping department to provide exceptional products and services within brand operating standards. 

 

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the daily operations of the landscaping team across all resort areas, ensuring gardens, beach fronts, villas, and pathways remain clean, safe, and presentable at all times.

  • Oversee the upkeep of all exterior areas.

  • Monitor tree and plant health, ensuring sustainable and organic gardening practices in line with Six Senses’ wellness and sustainability values.

  • Plan and supervise seasonal planting, harvesting, and soil preparation, coordinating with the Executive Chef to align farm produce with culinary needs.

  • Ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and installation of irrigation systems, while monitoring water supply and usage efficiency.

  • Coordinate logistical management of external vendors for servicing property landscaping needs.

  • Supervise daily and weekly cleaning of pathways, beaches, poolsides, restaurants, spa areas, and villas, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.

  • Plan, assign, and monitor host schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize payroll costs.

  • Manage nursery stocks, plant health, cleanliness, and oversee reorganization and redesign of landscaped areas when required.

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, machines, and equipment while adhering to safety and emergency procedures.

  • Prepare and submit all required documentation, including payroll attendance, monthly reports, production and inventory updates, and action plans.

  • Respond to emergencies such as heavy rain, wind, high tide, or tar presence on beaches by coordinating precautionary and recovery actions with relevant teams.

  • Maintain high standards of grooming, personal appearance, and hygiene for self and team.

  • Promote resort activities and facilities to guests, enhancing the overall guest experience.

  • Protect the privacy of guests, owners, and partners by safeguarding all sensitive and confidential information.

  • Attend trainings, meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement of landscaping practices in line with brand and statutory standards.

  • Perform any additional tasks or projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering or General Manager.

 

Qualifications
To execute the position of Director of Landscaping, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following: 

  • Proven experience in landscaping, horticulture, or grounds management, preferably in a luxury hospitality environment.

  • Strong knowledge of organic gardening practices, plant health, soil preparation, and sustainable farming techniques.

  •  Experience managing large outdoor areas including beaches, villas, farm operations, and irrigation systems.

  • Leadership and team management skills with the ability to assign, monitor, and motivate a diverse workforce.

  • Hands-on knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and machinery, including their operation, repair, and maintenance.

  • Ability to plan and execute seasonal planting schedules, harvests, and farm-to-table initiatives.

  •  Strong organizational and administrative skills, including report preparation, scheduling, and payroll submissions.

  • Flexibility to respond to seasonal changes, weather conditions, and emergency situations.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with chefs, engineering, housekeeping, and external vendors. 

  • Fluent in English; fluency in local language is a plus.
