What’s the job?
We are currently seeking Casual and Part-Time Demi Chefs to join our team at Crowne Plaza Melbourne.
Reporting to the Sous Chef or Section Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in line with IHG policies, procedures, and Crowne Plaza Melbourne standards. You will take ownership of your designated kitchen section, ensuring every dish is delivered with excellence in both quality and presentation.
Depending on business needs, you may work in one of our outlets, including Ottie’s Restaurant or the Banquet Kitchen.
Your day to day
- Prepare and present a variety of hot and cold dishes including meats, seafood, pastries, desserts, and sauces, with a strong focus on quality, garnishing, and presentation.
- Support daily kitchen operations by guiding junior staff, maintaining a clean and safe workstation, and ensuring readiness for service with all ingredients and equipment prepared in advance.
- Uphold hotel standards by following health, safety, hygiene, and grooming regulations, participating in team briefings and training, and fostering positive relationships with guests and colleagues.
What we need from you
- A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- Proven ability to interact professionally with guests, colleagues, and third parties, reflecting positively on the hotel, brand, and company.
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Excellent problem-solving, organization, and team leadership abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- A polished, professional appearance – wear your uniform with pride.
- A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to contribute to a supportive kitchen team.
