To help us continue on our journey, we’re expanding our Ethics & Compliance (E&C) team, part of our global legal team, and we’re looking for an experienced legal counsel to take on the newly created role of Head of Legal - Ethics & Compliance.

The role:
Reporting into the VP Privacy, Ethics & Compliance, as the Head of Legal - Ethics & Compliance, you’ll be responsible for setting and implementing IHG’s global ethics and regulatory compliance strategy, embedding a culture of integrity, and ensuring we meet legal and regulatory expectations across key areas including Anti-Bribery, Antitrust Sanctions and our Code of Conduct as well as leading the E&C team.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development and implementation of IHG’s Ethics & Compliance strategy, aligned with broader risk management objectives
- Build and manage the expanded E&C team (team of 4), defining clear roles and ways of working
- Oversee compliance frameworks and programmes for key risk areas
- Provide legal advice and strategic guidance to support business growth and priorities
- Lead strategic risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies through training, awareness, and monitoring
- Collaborate with business leaders to embed compliance into decision-making
- Define and report on compliance metrics and programme effectiveness
- Work cross-functionally with Legal, Procurement, Risk, and Audit teams on investigations, due diligence, and policy governance
What you’ll bring:
- Significant experience as a qualified lawyer, ideally with a focus in Ethics & Compliance topics including Anti-Bribery, Antitrust or Sanctions
- A genuine passion for ethical business practices and a strong awareness of emerging trends in compliance, governance, and regulatory ethics. Not just following best practice but defining it.
- Experience of leading or building compliance functions in global organisations or law firms
- Strong experience designing and implementing compliance programmes, including policies, procedures, risk assessments, and monitoring
- Demonstrated leadership capability and team management experience
- The ability to collaborate and influence at all levels of a complex, global business
