What Is The Job?

As Hotel Manager, you will lead and manage the daily operations of the hotel to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and financial performance. You will play a critical role in aligning the hotel’s strategic objectives with IHG’s core values, ensuring service excellence, brand compliance, and the successful delivery of all operational goals. This role also serves as Acting General Manager when required.

Your Day To Day

 

Financial

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the hotel’s Strategic Plan, Marketing Plan and Budgets to ensure on an on-going basis, optimum guest satisfaction, sales potential, profitability and achievements of all targets in the Hotel Metrics. 
  • Assists in monitoring present and future trends, practices and systems in the hotel industry, to determine and ensures execution of competitive programmes as directed
  • Participates in conducting weekly inspections and ensures physical facilities are kept in optimal condition by full implementation of preventive programmes and judicious planning and management of FF&E as directed.
  • Develops recognition programmes, advertising and promotional campaigns to obtain greatest market awareness and patronage of the hotel.
  • Assists in selling hotel and particularly, Food & Beverage products, through personal involvement with all potential markets as required.
  • Works with Director of Finance and Business Support in the preparation and management of the Hotel’s budget.

People

  • Coordinates functions and activities with General Manager, Regional, Area and Corporate staff as appropriate.
  • Manages the functions of all hotel personnel through supervision of the hotel department heads, particularly Food & Beverage Service, Culinary, Rooms, Safety & Security and Engineering.
  • Establishes and maintains effective internal communication and meetings structures to ensure optimum teamwork and productivity.
  • Establishes and maintains effective employee relations to achieve Colleague Heartbeat targets.
  • Work with Human Resources on manpower planning and management needs.

Guest Experience

  • Ensures highest level of guest satisfaction by providing within corporate standards quality guest services and amenities.
  • Interacts with guests and individuals outside the hotel including, but not limited to, current and potential clients, owning company representatives, community leaders, government officials, travel industry representatives, suppliers, competitors and other members of the local community.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, assumes responsibilities as appropriate. Keeps General Manager informed of any unforeseen events, which may occur in his/her absence.
  • Ensures compliance and achievement of hotel’s brand and quality standards 
  • Support and drive initiatives that ensure the business achieves its Key Metrics.

 

Operations & Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Oversee daily operations across all hotel departments, ensuring smooth coordination and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to monitor cleanliness, safety, and service delivery.
  • Lead emergency response efforts and act as Manager on Duty as needed.
  • Address and resolve urgent operational challenges including guest complaints, facility issues, or service disruptions.
  • Support special projects such as renovations, system upgrades, and hotel events.
  • Represent the hotel at community, industry, or governmental events when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.

 

Responsible Business

  • Ensures emergency procedures are practiced and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees.
  • Monitors applicable laws and regulations, including Health and Safety, and ensures compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains a prominent level of visibility and involvement in the property and business, social and governmental communities as appropriate.
  • Reviews energy conservation programme to ensure minimum energy and utility consumption without sacrificing human comfort.
  • Ensures environmentally friendly practices are implemented in accordance with the IHG Environmental Manual and Green Engage initiatives, local laws and regulations. Develop and carry out action plans to be environmentally-conscious by taking steps to reduce the hotel’s carbon footprin

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Hotel Administration, Business Administration.
  • Five to ten years’ of prior hotel management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience required may vary based on size and complexity of operation.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and operational skills.
  • Malaysian Citizen or Permanent Resident with legal right to work in Malaysia is required.
