To lead the cross functional opening team in SEAK for all activities related to opening, conversion and reopening of hotels and resorts in IHG. This role will form the consultative lead for all openings as disseminated as per this portfolio. This role will be responsible for impacting and influencing owners and senior leaders in IHG to ensure on brand, on time and on budget openings within HLG. This role will also manage the ramp up of new hotels to ensure profitability as soon as practicable post opening for owners and IHG. This role is a key partner within the HLG EAPAC team, working closely with Design & Engineering, New Hotels, F&B, and the Centre of Excellence, while collaborating with Operations in SE Asia & Korea

 

Key Accountabilities

Within this role, the New Hotel Openings Operations Director will direct and lead the cross functional opening team in all activities for each new hotel. This includes directing and managing relationships with Owners, Developers, Consultants, the wider IHG team, Pre-opening Teams and Operations to ensure the successful opening and ramp up of IHG hotels. The role also ensures compliance with quality and operational standards upon opening, as well as ensuring the implementation of the commercial ramp-up plans to drive excellent revenue performance and guest experiences upon opening.

  • Responsible for managing the opening of a portfolio of all IHG brand, both Franchised and Managed hotels.
  • Managing relationships with Owners, Developers, Consultants, Design and Engineering, Pre-opening Teams and Operations to ensure the successful opening of IHG branded hotels.
  • This role ensures the efficient and timely opening of all hotels in the Pipeline; including the forecasting of opening dates.
  • Lead and direct the pre-opening activities of all hotels
  • Set the opening dates with respective owners, in partnership with the wider Growth team
  • Ensure the completion of Hotel Opening Training for the GM and Hotel team.
  • Conduct site visits to all projects to track, monitor and report on progress
  • Project manages the whole team on the opening programme throughout the process
  • Conduct pre-opening inspection, in partnership with the wider Growth team, in preparation for opening.
  • Conducts and takes full responsibility for the opening of our hotels
  • Act as the IHG representative; ensuring compliance to all legal, safety and brand and commercial standards upon opening.
  • Conducts Post Opening reviews with our hotels before handing them over to our Operations team
  • Responsibility for post opening performance as measured by our key metrics
  • Set POB and other clauses in HMA / FA in conjunction with legal, finance and development
  • Strategic owner account management
  • Lead continuous improvement projects

 

Education

University Level, or a minimum of 5 years hotel experience


Experience

  • Prior hotel operations (at senior level) experience of approximately 2-4 years minimum is extremely beneficial in addition to specific hotel openings experience. You will also have experience managing teams, preferably cross- functional/discipline teams within a matrixed global organisation.
  • Owner relations management.
  • This role is a ‘hands on’ position requiring great personal organisational skills and the ability to motivate and influence key stakeholders. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships.
  • Clear project management capability & cross functional collaboration impact and influence
  • Preferred deep understanding of market & context of operating in diverse region


Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Office suite
  • PMS and GRS (would be preferable)
  • IHG Systems (would be an advantage)
