JOB OVERVIEW

Develop and set revenue sales and marketing strategies for the hotel to ensure plans are implemented, results are monitored and sales goals are achieved. Regularly sell hotel rooms, meeting rooms, and food and beverage through direct client contacts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCIAL RETURNS:

  • Assists in producing the Annual Revenue Plan

  • Analyses current and potential markets/trends, coordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increased rate

  • Procures new and repeat business for the hotel by monitoring contact with airlines, travel agencies, commercial houses, private clubs and professional associations within local, domestic UK and international markets. Maintains contact with planners, corporate accounts, incentive buyers, airlines and wholesalers, through personal sales calls, telephone contacts and written communications.

  • Works with the Finance and Business Support Manager in the preparation and management of the department’s budget.

  • Duties include:

  1. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget

  2. Monitor, analyse and report variations from the budget

  3. Manages the Department’s expenses

  4. Makes pricing decisions

 

PEOPLE:

  • Works with Superior and Human Resources Manager to ensure the departmental performance of staff is productive.

  • Duties include:

  1. Plans for future staffing needs

  2. Recruits in line with company guidelines

  3. Prepares detailed induction programmes for new staff

  4. Maintains a comprehensive, current and guest focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversees their implementation

  5. Ensures training needs analysis of sales staff is carried out and training programmes are designed and implemented to meet needs

  • Conducts probation and formal performance appraisal in line with company guidelines

  • Maintains up to date staff records and approves leave requests etc

  • Coaches, counsels and disciplines staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance

  • Regularly communicates with staff and maintains good relations

 

GUEST EXPERIENCE:

  • Oversees the selling and servicing of group business

  • Meets with guests from major producers/organizers of big events staying in the hotel to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Establishes and continuously updates mailing lists

 

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS:

  • Manages key accounts

  • Monitors competitor activities

  • Plans and executes sales trips to major market areas

  • Produces monthly sales reports and forecasts

  • Perform all other duties as assigned

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

Responsible for sales activities and events including direct sales, sales solicitation, sales administration, public relations and management of the Sales Team. May manage professional level and administrative sales team members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, with 2 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Good writing skills.
