This role is to provide strategic, commercially focused legal support to the company’s technology and digital business, including guest-facing applications, digital platforms, data-driven solutions, and technology services provided to hotel owners and managed/franchised properties. The role ensures that technology initiatives are compliant with PRC laws and regulations, appropriately manage legal and regulatory risk, and support business growth and innovation.
Your day to day
• Act as the primary legal advisor to Product and Technology Greater China.
• Provide legal support across the lifecycle of guest-facing digital solutions, digital platforms, loyalty and reservation systems, distribution channels, and owner-facing technology solutions.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of technology-related agreements, including:
Software development and licensing agreements
SaaS and cloud services agreements
System integration, outsourcing, and managed services agreements
• Support product launches and new digital features through legal risk assessments.
• Work closely with global legal and technology team for the global project support and GC project synchronization
• Manage and coordinate external counsel on technology, data, and regulatory matters to ensure high-quality, cost-effective advice.
• Monitor and assess regulatory developments affecting technology, data, AI, online platforms, and digital marketing, and proactively brief stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of internal policies, standards, templates, and playbooks for technology and digital initiatives.
• Keep flexible based on the work arrangement
What we need from you
• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) or above
• PRC legal qualification (PRC Bar) is mandatory
• 8+ years of post qualification experience as a corporate/commercial lawyer, with a strong focus on technology, digital, data, or IP matters
• Experience gained from a leading law firm and/or in-house role within a multinational company
• Exposure to hospitality, internet, technology, or platform-based businesses is highly desirable
• Proven experience advising technology regulatory issues
• Technical Skills and Knowledge
• Possess a strong spirit of learning
• Strong knowledge of PRC laws and regulations relevant to technology, AI, data and platform
• Solid understanding of digital products, mobile applications, cloud services, APIs, and data flows
• Ability to translate complex legal requirements into practical, business-oriented guidance
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior business leaders
• High level of integrity, sound judgment, and risk awareness
• Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and strong working proficiency in English
